Come Fly With Me

Written by on May 17, 2017 in The Thousand Islands

Island Life Magazine 2017 takes you not only on the River but over the River to explore the world famous 1000 Islands. I have had the opportunity to fly with  Kouri’s Kopters 1000 Helicopter Tours based in Gananoque and aboard float planes to take aerial photographs of this amazing archipelago and share them in this year’s magazine and

It’s incredible enough to voyage through the 1000 Islands on boats. Seeing them from the sky is an incredible experience. Soaring over Boldt Castle’s Heart Island, Summerland Island, the Lost Channel and the International Rift, one gets to see this fabled fairyland for what it truly is: A wondrous water world.  For more information on aerial planned and custom charter tours starting at $99 with 1000 Islands Helicopter Tours visit Enjoy a bird’s eye view of the 1000 Islands in this year’s Island Life Magazine. Island Life Magazine is the region’s premier glossy magazine in the 1000 Islands distributed in northern New York and eastern Ontario late May.

Get ready to voyage through and soar above the world famous 1000 Islands with Island Life Magazine. This year’s print edition showcases Millionaire’s Row near Alexandria Bay, the Admiralty Group of Islands near Gananoque (including this issue’s cover photo) and a charming chain of isles so very aptly named Summerland. Limited copies of Island Life Magazine 2017 and past issues are also now available online including shipping and handling at See the Purchase page for details.

I feature aerial images of tiny Tom Thumb Island and the International Rift between New York’s Wellesley Island and Ontario’s Hill Island, and Just Room Enough Island, a tiny private cottage next door to Heart Island’s 120-room Boldt Castle that tour boat captains jokingly call Boldt’s mother-in-law suite.

The 1000 Islands is known for its cottages and castles.

This edition features Singer Castle on Dark Island and Boldt Castle on Heart Island as well as a cottage called Always, named after a love song composed by one of its visitors, renowned composer Irving Berlin. The issue features articles on Royal and Smith Islands near Brockville and Maple Island near Clayton, linked to a more than century-old unsolved murder linked the assassination of U.S. President Abraham Lincoln.
